"A family located in the northern part of London wants to find an extraordinary and experienced tutor to support their smallest child on his first steps to becoming an English gentleman."
Looking at this post, you might readily overlook the wording "initial stages" as mere a turn of phrase.
Yet, it could be the most significant part of this unique job advert, as it attempts to hire a mentor for a 12-month-old.
Hundreds of submissions have already been sent in since the anonymous family posted their request for the highly paid tutor, who must be "an exceptional individual".
In recent few weeks, the listing has received interest across the press, with numerous asking why?
Forward-Thinking Method
The CEO, chief executive of Tutors International, which is assisting the family in their search, said that notwithstanding first doubt, he viewed the concept "far sighted", and "innovative".
When he spoke with the family, he noted they appreciated the unusual character of their demand, and how immature their son is.
But, they stated that they "didn't want to wait any longer" to engage a tutor, as they had held off until their elder sibling was five, and by that point "cultural conditioning had by then set in".
What exactly does the family indicate by "cultural predisposition"?
It's "comprehensive", he responded. "The way you eat, the way you speak".
He explained the older sibling had picked up "very nuanced, non-verbal cues" from the family, and had taken on their cultural norms. The family told the consultant they hoped to prevent history to recur with their infant.
The strategy: To hire a English tutor, who must speak with Received Pronunciation, to influence the baby from the very start.
Osmotic Learning
"A great deal of the education at the start here is rather absorbed naturally," explained Adam.
It's through this subtle influence that the family are aiming the child will pick up the English characteristics they aim to impart.
The consultant explained the tutor must be an individual who studied at "the right kinds of schools – comparable categories of schools as the family aspire to send their son to".
"The tutor just has to be the suitable individual, they'll be carrying out things they don't even know they're doing, simply by nature," he added.
Expense Not a Factor
The family informed the expert the successful candidate should ideally also have familiarity of or enthusiasm in riding, winter sports, creative fields and musical activities so as to shape the child in a wide range of interests.
Furthermore though, he explained the family desired the tutor to register the child on a variety of courses so the child would be "horseback riding and learning an musical instrument by the time they are approximately three years old".
In the family's perspective, guiding their son become a "English gentleman" will lead to accomplishment and create opportunities.
"Taking into account the rights and wrongs of that, because it's definitely a class statement," he comments.
However, notwithstanding all this instruction in "UK identity", might the child absorb alleged cultural influence from the multicultural family he lives with anyway?
"Certainly", answered the CEO. "They know this may not work, but they've merely embraced the perspective of, 'why not attempt it and let's go as early as we can', because the cost of it is not a concern," he explained.
Impractical
Several in the tutoring industry who share those concerns.
An education leader, chief executive of Blue Education, who supplies personal educators, commented that "the process of embracing two identities, or actually, becoming oneself, is something that must be experienced personally, not engineered."
The expert explained that he had relocated from the Far East to the United Kingdom at the age of seven, and had been raised understanding and living both cultures. He went on to be educated at Cambridge University.
"The idea that one individual can act as a representation of Britishness, a person who can somehow transplant the attributes of a British gentleman upon a infant child, strikes me as optimistic and unfeasible," he stated.
"From my perspective, engaging a quintessentially British tutor from babyhood will will not automatically produce the goal they desire.
"I did not have such a figure, and nevertheless I have been privileged enough to enjoy many of the opportunities they hope for their son."
He added: "The reality is, personal identity cannot be dictated from the external environment; it must be embraced, and it must be internally driven."
Purchasing UK Culture
Of course, English culture is something the expert thinks can be educated – and commercialized.
"In my view the situation that the global community holds us in this regard is something that we should be cherishing|valuing|appreciating
